About the Injury Compensation Programs

Two of our programs give individuals a streamlined system for compensation for their injuries.

National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP)

VICP compensates people injured by certain vaccines given routinely to children and adults. These include the seasonal flu vaccine, measles, mumps, rubella or polio.

COVID-19 vaccines are covered countermeasures under the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP), not the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP)

CICP compensates individuals for serious physical injuries or deaths from pandemic, epidemic, or security countermeasures.

This includes COVID-19 medical countermeasures, such as COVID-19 vaccines, antivirals, drugs biologics, diagnostic, respiratory protective devices and other devices used to diagnose, mitigate, prevent, treat or cure COVID-19, identified in declarations issued by the Secretary of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.
