Open Claim Statuses


OPEN - Claim Initiated

The CICP has received your Request for Benefits form or Letter of Intent to initiate your claim. The CICP is processing your claim and will contact you if additional information is required.  If you have additional questions about the CICP, you may call 1-855-266-2427 or email CICP@hrsa.gov. Additionally, you may review the status of your claim via this portal.

OPEN - Required Documentation Pending

The CICP is in the process of verifying that all required documentation has been received and can be matched to your claim. You must have visited a health care provider to be seen and/or treated for an injury after you received a covered countermeasure, and your medical records must describe the injury and related treatment. If you do not submit medical records showing that you sustained a covered injury, your claim is likely to be ineligible for compensation. Please ensure the CICP has received the required documentation to process your claim. For more information about what documentation the CICP requires, please visit www.hrsa.gov/cicp. If you have questions about whether your medical records have been submitted for your claim, please review the uploaded documents in the DICP Submit portal. OPEN – Required Documentation Missing

The CICP has determined that all required documentation has not been received for your claim. You must have visited a health care provider to be seen and/or treated for an injury after you received a covered countermeasure, and your medical records must describe the injury and related treatment. If you do not submit medical records showing that you sustained a covered injury, your claim is likely to be ineligible for compensation. Please ensure the CICP has received the required documentation to process your claim. If you have questions about whether your medical records have been submitted for your claim, please review the uploaded documents in the DICP Submit portal. OPEN - In Queue

The CICP has received the complete Request for Benefits form and related documentation and your claim is in the queue for medical review. HRSA will notify you via the DICP Submit portal when your claim moves to the medical review process.

OPEN - In Medical Review

Your claim is now in the medical review process. HRSA medical reviewers conduct a thorough, individualized review of the medical records to determine whether a covered countermeasure directly caused the alleged injury based on the standard set out in the statute to determine eligibility for compensation. Per statute (section 319F–4(b)(4)) of the PHS Act (42 U.S.C. 247d–6e(b)(4)), the CICP may only make a determination that the sustained injury was the direct result of the administration or use of a covered countermeasure based on compelling, reliable, valid, medical and scientific evidence. If the CICP medical reviewers need additional information to complete a medical review, the CICP will notify you by letter.

OPEN - Benefits Determination Pending

The CICP has determined that your claim is eligible for program benefits. The CICP will contact you for additional information regarding the compensation process, and the CICP will determine the type and amount of benefits you are entitled to receive.

OPEN - Benefits Documentation Missing

The CICP has determined that your claim may be compensable; however, additional information is required to complete the process. If you have questions about what documentation is required by the CICP to determine your compensable benefits, please email CICPBenefits@hrsa.gov.

Closed Claim Statuses


CLOSED - Ineligible Claim - Missed Filing Deadline

The CICP determined that you did not submit your Request for Benefits package within the required 1-year filing deadline. Your claim is now closed. Since the CICP has determined that you are not eligible for benefits, you may request reconsideration of your case. For more information on the reconsideration process, please visit the CICP Filing Process website.

CLOSED - Ineligible Claim - Not Covered Countermeasure

The CICP determined that you are ineligible for CICP benefits because the countermeasure you specified in your claim is not a CICP covered countermeasure. Your claim is now closed. Since the CICP has determined that you are not eligible for benefits, you may request reconsideration of your case. CLOSED - Ineligible Claim - Required Medical Records/Supporting Documentation Not Received

The CICP determined that you are ineligible for CICP benefits because your claim has insufficient documentation to conduct a thorough review of your claim and you did not provide the required information to complete a review. Your claim is now closed. Since the CICP has determined that you are not eligible for benefits, you may request reconsideration of your case. CLOSED - Ineligible Claim - Standard of Proof not met/Covered Injury Not Sustained

The CICP reviewed your claim and determined that the medical records/documentation did not provide adequate support that a covered injury was sustained. Your claim is now closed. Since the CICP has determined that you are not eligible for benefits, you may request reconsideration of your case. CLOSED - No Compensable Expenses

The CICP determined that you did sustain a covered injury; however, you did not incur any compensable expenses. Your claim is now closed. Since the CICP has determined that you do not have compensable expenses, you may request reconsideration. Miscellaneous Claim Statuses


Reconsideration

Your reconsideration request has been received by the Health Systems Bureau Associate Administrator. If you have additional questions about your reconsideration request, please email CICPReconsideration@hrsa.gov.

Duplicate Filing

CICP records indicate you had a duplicate electronic filing. If you originally filed electronically, your claim status can be viewed with your active claim on this page. If you originally filed by mail, please email the CICP at CICP@hrsa.gov for your claim status.

Saved - Not Submitted

If you are seeing this status, you have saved a file to the DICP Submit portal. However, you have not submitted a claim. To submit a claim, you must open the Request for Benefits form you saved, complete any outstanding information, and select "Submit" on the final tab.
